A balance on the pass, not a drawer of plastic

Set a balance on your customer's account

When they pay you ahead, staff add that cash to their balance on the same Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass they use for loyalty. Next visit they show the QR and you deduct what they spend. The rest stays on the pass.

  • No inventory of physical cards to reorder
  • Balance updates live after each visit
  • Works beside points and prepaid packages

Salons, cafés, studios, groomers—anywhere a customer pays now and spends it later.

Why a handwritten balance falls apart

The balance dispute

“I’m sure there was $30 left.” Your staff checks a sticky note. The line behind them sighs.

Money they forget they have

Good for cash today, easy to lose track of later. A wallet pass shows the balance every time they unlock their phone.

Paid today, spent much later

They pay you now and come back when they are ready. Without a simple deduct step, that visit never gets recorded.

Same checkout habit as loyalty

1

Customer pays you

Card, cash, tap-to-pay—whatever you use today. PointsCard is not your processor.

2

Staff set the balance

Add the amount to their account on the wallet pass, or create a pass if they do not have one yet.

3

Deduct when they spend

They show the QR; staff scan and deduct the amount used. What is left stays on the pass.

Where shops use it

Salon

$75 toward a later color or cut

They pay now. You set the balance, then deduct it when they book. It stays on the phone, not in a purse.

Coffee shop

$25 on a regular’s account

Add it once, then deduct a latte at a time—see coffee shops.

Studio

Cash on the pass, or a class pack

Set a dollar balance, or pair it with a class pack you deduct at the door.

Local shop

Paid today, service later

They choose the service when they come back. You already have the money, and you deduct the visit from their balance.

Customer balance questions

Do customers pay for a balance inside PointsCard?

No. They pay you the way you already take money—card, cash, or your POS. Staff then add that amount to their balance from the PointsCard app.

Can a balance sit on the same pass as loyalty points?

Yes. One wallet pass can show loyalty progress and the remaining balance. Checkout is still one QR scan for staff.

What if they spend only part of the balance?

Staff scan and deduct the amount used. The rest stays on the pass. There is no handwritten ledger at the register.

Do customers need an account to hold a balance?

No. The balance lives on an Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass. Customers do not download a PointsCard app or create an account.

Can I set a balance for someone who is not already in the loyalty program?

Yes. Staff can create a wallet pass and set the balance. They add that pass to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and show the QR when you deduct from it.

Set a balance without the plastic drawer
